Some happenings around town. Oh, and by the way, for those of you who missed out on a tee. I ran another round today with some more hot pink for the ladies too. Email me if you want one.

I hope you do not go out of business with the way the local fuzz are taking the fun out of everything.. There needs to be patrol on the dunes not a hundered in the parking lots.. strange how a little fun that is not hurting anyone or anything is just loud (blowing a whistle) is against the law. You could not hear it very well over all the blasting music and reving motors but the local woods county cops thought it was the worst thing on earth. They even let a drunk driver go just to mess with us over our whistle blowing... With that kind of police dept abuse of authority your money making days are numbered.. Waynoka is going down the tubes anyways.. looks like a dump and most of the "locals" are very rude. Funny how we have to pay an super expensive amount to camp for a couple nights and yet we are the bad guys.. our group did not hurt anyone drink and drive or start any fights. Yet your local heros had the nerve to harass us over a WHISTLE being blown.. I hope you all like working in the oil fields, cause the fuzz and the local atmosphere is slowly killing Little Sahara. This year there where plenty of open campsites and not many of the big big money people showed up.. I see ya lost one gas station and the provider of pizza we all liked to be able to ride to. Guess it is already started...

Apparently you have not met me. I am one polite SOB.

I see ya lost one gas station and the provider of pizza we all liked to be able to ride to. Guess it is already started...

This is just my opinion and I do live here, the Ampride was considered by many here to have the least "welcoming atmosphere" of any business in town. The irony here is that you seemed to like it.

Seriously...the locals have absolutely NO control over what happens at the dunes or how it is handled by law enforcement. The anger here to me seems a bit misdirected. While I deeply regret that your experience on Sandfest was less than "happy" you should keep in mind that with any gathering at an event at a place of "interest" not everyone is going to view the experience the same. Sadly it seems that the "deal breaker" here was an "at odds" experience with authority as seems to be the cause for complaints not only here but at any other event as well. Again I must reiterate that I am disturbed that anyone has an unfavorable opinion of Waynoka but I also realize that irregardless of what you do, not everyone can be made happy. In your case this "un-happiness" seemed to have at it's roots a "whistle" at a campground full of people gathered together by the common cause of riding ATVs..... Campgrounds, ATV and Whistles are all useful items but to me one of them seems to be out of place at least in terms of adding to the experience of riding. I know by now that you have came to the conclusion that I am perhaps a smart ass and again I will submit that perhaps you are right in part. Forgive me but I happen to be a "rationalist" and I would like you to consider the next time you come and I hope you do, to please leave the latter item at home OR if you can't come without it...I'll make you a deal. Bring the whistle that caused the ruckus to Miller's Cafe and I'll trade you a breakfast and a free tee shirt for it. I'll hang that bastid on the wall and we can all have a good laugh about it. We can call it the "Official Sandfest Whistle."

My husband & I lease an annual spot at LSPS. Our family as well as several others who also have annual leases are at the dunes for 6-7 mos of the year at least every two weeks. We have met several of the business owners in Waynoka and have always been treated well. Little Sahara Pizza & Wings lets us know they missed us if we miss one of our routine wknds. Our family appreciates their clean restaurant & great customer service! The liquor store owner is always polite & helpful. The grocery store clerks...same. Restaurant at the train station...love it! Millers Cafe serves an awesome breakfast when we don't sleep in. During a muddy Spring Break I used the laundromat and the owner was present cleaning up after his patrons. That laundromat would rival any I frequented in college at KU for cleanliness. And the latest addition that I love love love...Frillz Salon & Boutique. After one visit the owner remembered me & offered fabulous customer service. Their prices are awesome too! I feel fortunate to be able to take my family to the dunes & have all of these friendly businesses at my finger tips! Luckily as business owners ourselves we do not have to deal with some of the riff raff that these people do.

I love comming to the dunes and find the people there in Waynoka very nice but as far as all the Fuzz people are griping about what do you expect when there are more people at the dunes then the whole population of Waynoka. I for one did not have a problem with them but I did have a problem with all the drunks out on the dunes and I loved the Tee shirts.

Two things you can always count on on event weekends at the dunes.

1. More cops
2. More Cops

That is just the way it has been and more than likely will continue to be that way. I don't recall seeing anything about "do you want more cops on event weekends at the dune" on any ballot. So, with that in mind I would think on these particular weekends one can expect a "heavier hand" of enforcement and I am quite positive that there are instances of "enforcement" going over the top while some seem to get by with what seems to be a greater infraction. I am not condoning it. It is just the way it is and to insinuate that the "town" somehow conspires to have it that way is simply a great misconception.
