Stiff south wind on Friday, Jan 22 smoothed the sand out and made razorbacks along tops of the bigger dunes. It rained that night and early Saturday morning,Jan 23rd(picture) was great riding in the wet smooth sand till afternoon, then it was pretty chewed up and rough. A darn good time was had by all except one guy on a motorcycle who just wasn't making it with the tires he was using and the guy in his full sized truck stuck in the north entrance..

Sat was most enjoyable, what smooth sand and nice temps. But Southwind is correct,by midafternoon it was pretty chopped up.Lots of riders for an early season nice day,was a super time.Mr Southwind it was very nice to meet you out doing what most just take for granted that it's someone elses worry to keep our riding area clean and safe.I was amazed at all the bottles and cans the wind exposed.I was also amazed @ the cans that were left in my trailer stakes, upon returning from my sons and my ride.He asked, why would people leave their cans on our trailer?I didn't have an answer that was fit for childrens ears.He just picked them up and tossed them in the dumpster that was 10 feet away.Maybe the younger generation will pickup where so many have dropped off. It's a great place to have fun, lets keep it that way.

Late Friday afternoon the strong south wind was blowing up razorbacks on the tall dunes. In this picture one guy in a side by side decided to ride along the northside of the razorback and get a sand facial. I bet that stings. A storm front was coming from the west and me without a raincoat, headed for the parking lot. Within 5 minutes the wind stopped blowing the sand and the wind started to blow from the west. It looked like it would rain any minute but it held off till later that night.

I was just curious, how much snow is sitting on the dunes right now? I would love to come ride in the snow.
