Finally some decent weather. The sand was wet with the snow melt and rough in about half the dunes but still lots of smooth untracked areas. There are way to many hidden dropoffs ranging from a few feet to 30 or 40 feet. Newbies beware. You can not see these until it is to late to slow down and they are everywhere you won't expect them to be. You will notice lots of busted parts at the bottom of them. On a happier note it was great riding with the warmer weather. Some of the color is coming back into the plants as spring appoaches. It was in the 60s on Thursday. Here is a picture Thursday morning (Feb 18) as the sun came out and you could feel the dunes warm up. Wednesday evening "buggyprincess" spotted me in town and said hi. Mighty friendly people here online and in Waynoka.

By Thursday afternoon the wind was blowing hard from the south and the sand was moving bigtime. It should be in great shape on Friday Feb 19 if it doesn't rain to much.

Right now as I gaze into my crystal ball the chances are maybe 50/50. Not as good as I would like to see and I admit it I"m just guessing. If it doesn't snow it might rain. So 50/50 might be a little optimistic for good weather. We will just have to wait and see. The weather this year has not been predictable much beyond two or thrree days. So it might be somewhere between the Ice Age and the Dust Bowl.
