I'm not from the waynoka area so i do not know personally, but i have been told that on the east side of 281 as well as farther north from the dunes that the terrain is very sandy much like IN the dunes. i have also been told that it would make for very nice sandy trail riding and if cleared off could make a dune area comparable to the "sand highway". has the OK park/rec comm ever thought about buying the surrounding land and expanding the dunes? i have heard that they don't want to make the land close to the highway "dune" because the sand will blow over the highway, but what is stopping them besides funding? anybody ever hear any gossip, rumors, or fact on the subject?

I think that all the private land that could be bought has been bought and even IF there were some to buy, the economics of the times would prohibit any thoughts of doing so.
