91 KLF 300 5 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
I've been working on a Kawasaki Bayou 300. It's been sitting for several years just begging for attention. Changed the oil, drained and replaced the gas, and put in a new spark plug. When I finally got it started it ran for maybe 30 seconds then backfired through the carb and cought on fire. When it was running it ran real rough.. Can anyone tell me wtf is going on? Coil or something more serious?

No expert but I would start at the carb. Sounds like the diaphram on that carb has failed. I beleive that is a vacuum carb.
